5-Day Training Programme on “Banana Waste to Paper & Sustainable Product Development”
We are pleased to share the successful completion of the 5-Day Training Programme on “Banana Waste to Paper: Processing, Paper Making and Product Development”, organized at SPRERI, Anand, Gujarat, from 17–21 August 2026, with the support of DST-SUNIL.
The programme brought together enthusiastic participants from across India, with a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, skill development, and entrepreneurship opportunities in banana waste valorization.
17–18 August | Fibre Extraction & Paper Making
The first two days focused on the operation and maintenance of processing machinery, banana pseudostem fibre extraction, fibre processing, and preparation of banana paper with different GSM. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Hriday Ray, New Delhi.
19–21 August | Product Development
The subsequent sessions focused on converting banana paper into value-added products, including diaries, envelopes, folders, carry bags, and other paper-based products. These practical sessions were led by Er. Ravi Raj, Paper Engineer.
The enthusiastic participation and active engagement throughout the programme reflected the growing interest in agricultural waste valorization, sustainable paper production, and green entrepreneurship.
The programme demonstrated how banana waste can be transformed into valuable products while creating opportunities for skill development, entrepreneurship, sustainable livelihoods, and a circular economy.
