Advertisement for project staff
Applications are invited from motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Research Associate (01) and Junior Research Fellow (01) in a Indo-Danish joint research project entitled "On-farm demonstration and performance analysis of an off-grid renewable energy driven cold storage", funded by Department of Science &Technology (DST), Government of India.
Brief of the Project
The project aim is to design, develop and demonstrate a hybrid renewable energy-based on-farm off-grid cold storage to address the issues of post harvest losses of horticulture perishable commodities, negative impact of demand and price fluctuation of the products. The project seeks to address the issues in system performance, planning and implementation by exploiting cooperation from Danish project team.
Duration: The project duration is of 3 years (2019-2022). Initial appointment of RA and JRF is for one year,which is extendable up to project completion based on performance.
Emolument: The amount of RA and JRF will be as per DST, Government of India norms.
Eligibility:
For Research Associate:
Essential qualification:
1. PhD in Solar Energy/Renewable Energy engineering with background in Physics/Mechanical/Electrical /Chemical engineeringor
2. Minimum two research articles published in SCI Journals in the area of solar thermal/solar refrigeration.
Desirable:
1.  2-3 years post PhD work experience in the area of solar refrigeration/solar energy technology development.
2. Strong data analysis, interpretation capabilities and experience of writing-up and disseminating research findings.
3. Prior knowledge and experience in programming and working on TRNSYS, MATLAB, PYTHON and ANSYS software
4. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
Main duties:
1. Design, develop and execution of experiments, data collection strategies and analysis of data.
2. Any other duties given by the Head of the Research Group commensurate with the level and responsibility of this post
3. Liaise with the academic and industry project partners, policy-makers, practitioners and stakeholders.
4. Prepare papers for publication and make presentations at meetings and/or conferences.
5. Assist in writing progress reports and organizing workshops/meeting to disseminate research output.
6. Assist other researchers in the Research Group (e.g. student, junior researchers and visitors) as and when required.
7. Undertake any other relevant activities that may be agreed with the Head of the Research Group and in line with any Funding Body's rules/regulations.
For JRF:
Essential qualification:
i) M.Sc.(Physics)/BE/B.Tech.(Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics) or equivalent with at least 60% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA
ii) A valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-NET qualification.
Preference
(i) M.E./M.Tech.(Mechanical/Electrical/Thermal) with work experience in solar energy research and a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-NET qualification.
(ii) Candidate having publicationsin SCI journals.
(iii) Basic knowledge of TRNSYS/Matlab/Python etc.

To explore the possibilities and challenges in solar energy conversion system design
Undertake any research activities that may be agreed with the Head of the Research Group and in line with any Funding Body's rules/regulations.
